A woman from Roseville ended her life on Tuesday by jumping off the Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge, according to officials from the Folsom Police Department. At approximately 12:20 p.m., the Folsom Fire Department responded to the west side of the Folsom Lake Crossing Bridge, near the intersection of Folsom Auburn Road and Folsom Crossing, as reported by Folsom Battalion Chief Nick Lawlor.
After the woman’s body was discovered, the Folsom Police Department took over the investigation. Police Information Officer Deidre McAuliff stated that the victim drove to the bridge and jumped shortly after arriving. The Sacramento County Coroner identified the woman as 48 years old. Several witnesses driving across the bridge saw the tragic incident and immediately called 9-1-1.
Laura Arnez, a Folsom resident, was on her way home when she noticed the woman’s car pulled over, which she found unusual because there are no bike lanes or places to park on the bridge. Arnez said the event happened quickly and the woman disappeared from sight almost immediately.
