The lockdown was initiated shortly after noon, prompted by a “single incident of student self-harm,” according to official reports from the Lago Vista Police Department.
Despite the alarming nature of the lockdown, authorities confirmed that there was no active threat to the public, and first responders were promptly on the scene to manage the situation. Following the lockdown, the school began a structured release of students around 1 p.m. Students who drive were the first to be released, followed by those who ride buses, which began departing at approximately 1:30 p.m. Once all bus-riding students had left, parents were instructed to pick up their children on the south side of the building.
