Gulfport Miss:- A young US Naval Academy (USNA) senior has passed away. The deceased has been identified as Mason Halsey. He was announced dead on January 1st 2024. Mason Halsey, 22, one of the US Naval Academy midshipmen died at his home in Gulfport, Mississippi, according to reports.
The USNA wrote the following statement on its Facebook page: “The whole Naval Academy family.. are mourning the tragic and unexpected loss of Midshipman Mason Halsey,” Acting USNA Superintendent, Rear Admiral Fred Kacher said.” Thoughts and prayers are with his friends, family, community and the entire US Naval Academy during this difficult time.
What happened to Mason Halsey?
Mason Halsey was visiting his residence in Gulfport, MS for the holiday break when he was confirmed dead on Monday morning. The circumstances surrounding the cause of Mason Halsey’s death have not been made known at the time of this publication. Senior Mason was majoring in political science and was a member of the coed cheer team. He was an excellent student in the US Gov’t class in ’21. Mason had a Southern drawl, strong views, and respected those of others.
Gulfport is the second-most populous city in the U.S. state of Mississippi after the state capital, Jackson. Along with Biloxi, Gulfport is the co-county seat of Harrison County and part of the Gulfport–Biloxi metropolitan area.
