Richmond VA:- University of Richmond and Spider Basketball player has died. He was announced dead on Friday, the 24th of May 2024. Greg Beckwith, L.H. Mustang and U. Of Richmond basketball legend passed away after he suffered a heart attack. He was a great man and one of all-time great players. Thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

Greg, a record-setting point guard, a talented and dedicated broadcaster, and a kind and generous spirit, has meant so much to the University of Richmond and Spider Basketball for over 40 years. Many Spider fans know Greg as the voice of Spider Athletics, and even more see him as a genuine saint—a vital part of the Richmond basketball family and its history, both on and off the court.
Greg epitomized a team player, excelling in defence, passing, and performing under pressure. He was a winner both in life and on the court. Beloved throughout the league as an A-10 Legend, a Richmond Hall of Famer, and a fixture in media as the Spiders’ longtime broadcaster, Greg will be deeply missed on the sidelines.
