Former Carl Sandburg College Baseball Player Blake Russell of Joy, Illinois has sadly passed away. He died on Saturday 25th May 2024 at the age of 26. The news of his passing was made public through a Facebook post that said “Blake Russell, words can’t describe how much heartache everyone is feeling right now. You were so loved and cared about by so many. You had such a big personality and everyone always enjoyed being around you.”

The circumstances surrounding the actual cause of Blake Russell’s death have not been released at the time this report was made. He was born on June 27, 1997 to Eric & Jenny Russell. He graduated from Mercer County SD #404 News and went on to attend Carl Sandburg College where he finished in May 2017. He was an active and dedicated baseball player.
He worked at Riddell Roofing, Inc. He was a loving and caring son, brother, friend and colleague. He was loved and cherished by anyone that came in contact with him because of his down-to-earth personality. He was known for his entertaining personality and will be deeply missed by all.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo. Private burial will be in New Boston Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 3 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Among survivors are his parents, Eric & Jenny Russell and a brother, Tyson.
