The Clinton-Massie community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Jason Flint, a beloved student and athlete, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on Sunday night. Flint, who excelled in both basketball and track for the Clinton-Massie Falcons, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which occurred shortly before 10 p.m. on Settlemyre Road.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP), Flint and a 15-year-old were passengers in a 2008 Mazda MX-5 driven by a 19-year-old woman. As the vehicle navigated a curve, it veered off the road, crossed back over, and then went off the roadway again, ultimately overturning. The impact of the crash ejected both Flint and the other teen from the car. Troopers reported that neither of them were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The 19-year-old driver and the 15-year-old passenger were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries. The OSP is currently investigating the crash to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the tragic event. Jason Flint was well-known in the Clinton-Massie High School community, not only for his athletic talents but also for his character and spirit.
Carey, a spokesperson for the school, highlighted Flint’s contributions to the Falcons’ basketball and track teams, remembering him as a dedicated and hardworking athlete who brought energy and enthusiasm to everything he did.
