Bowness High School:- Police are investigating a tragic accident that happened in the northwest Calgary neighbourhood on Tuesday afternoon, May 28th 2024. The victim has been identified as a teenage student from Bowness High School. According to reports, the student passed away from injuries he sustained after he was struck by a CPKC Rail train in Bowness.
How did the crash happen?
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon around 1 p.m. At approximately 1:20 p.m., police were called to a set of train tracks east of 85 Street N.W. near the bridge, following reports of a teenager being struck by a CP Rail train. Fire rescue teams were dispatched to the scene in case extrication was necessary; however, their services were not needed. It was reported that three teenagers were on the railway bridge when the incident occurred.
The train was travelling south toward downtown at the time. The teen was transported to the hospital in a serious, life-threatening condition and was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Next of kin have been notified. Police stated that the incident has been deemed non-criminal, and no further updates will be provided.
