A beloved 4-year-old boy from Syracuse, New York, Rykelan Brown tragically passed away on May 29, 2024. He was announced dead by his foster parent through a social media publication that read “Many of you know we spent the last three years fostering the best little boy on the planet. We called him “Nugget” and “Turkey” and “Buddy” in online spaces to protect his privacy as a foster kiddo. Many of you supported us when he left our home 2 months ago after the courts gave custody to a biological father despite our concerns. Earlier this week, our boy’s life was violently stolen from him.”
What happened to Rykelan Brown?
Rykelan Brown was an amazing little boy whose life was stolen from him just a few days after his 4th birthday. He was with his foster parents until 2 months ago after the courts gave custody to a biological father. The person we believe is responsible is being thoroughly investigated and will hopefully be charged very soon. Samantha Adams is organizing the fundraiser to cover funeral expenses for Rykelan Brown.
Rykelan foster parents said they have been working with detectives and doctors to bring forward the appropriate charges. Rykelan Ross Brown was a beloved son to Kenzie Brown born on May 24th, 2020. He was loved and cherished by his foster parents Sam Adams and Megan Adams. He was a bright, creative child. Dinosaurs and cars were his favourite toys. The way he said “stegosaurus” was beyond cute. He loved to colour and play with Plah-Doh. He loved quality time and snuggles.
He also had the sharpest little elbows. Every toddler parent knows the unique pain of your kid digging their elbow into your side as they adjust. Nearly every morning he had a banana, which he adorably mispronounced as “ban-na. He loved eating yoghurt and getting it all over his sweet face. He never did grow out of smearing yoghurt all over the table.

Jane Lewis in a social media post expressed in a statement that says “This poor sweet baby lost his life at just 4 years old in the hands of his own father how sick. U don’t deserve to have another breath on this earth after what u did to him. Let’s all help bring justice to this sweet little boy who had so much a head of him but was taken way to soon by a monster #JusticeForRykelan”
Brittany Brown also said “The world is full of monsters who hide behind masks and smile in faces you see crazy stuff on the news all the time but it just makes no sense to me how anyone could hurt and innocent child my heart hurts for you Kenzie Brown I love you always and forever he is in good hands now and will never face another monster again. rest easy Rykelan”
