Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur student has died by suicide. The victim has been identified as Divyanshu Gautam. According to reports, Divyanshu Gautam, a final-year Computer Science Engineering (CSE) student at VNIT passed away tragically. He was found dead hanging at the college’s boys’ hostel, the police said on Thursday.
Some students reported a foul odour coming from Gautam’s room, and he had not been seen for the past couple of days. Suspecting something was wrong, they alerted the college administration. The staff then broke the door latch to enter the room and found Gautam lying on the floor. Police suspect that Gautam took his own life by hanging a few days earlier. Due to his weight, the fabric used in the hanging tore, causing him to fall to the floor.
A case of accidental death has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
