Wednesday saw the shooting death of a man in the Norwood neighbourhood, and Birmingham Police are looking into a possible homicide. At around 10:10 p.m., reports of shots fired prompted the dispatch of officers to the 3200 block of 13th Avenue North. Patrol officers found many shot casings on the ground when they arrived at the site. They discovered Birmingham resident Valdez Deundra Stephenson, 37, unconscious in a yard a short while later.
When Birmingham Fire and Rescue got there, they declared Stephenson dead. According to officials, the Stephenson family was present at the scene while detectives tried to find out more about the man and figure out what transpired before the shooting on Wednesday night. Police claim that despite the paucity of information, investigators had noted anywhere from 20 to 30 shot casings at the shooting location. According to investigators, Stephenson was the intended target of the gunshot.
