This morning around 7:30 a.m., police closed off Topping Path near Edwards Avenue in Manorville, Suffolk County, following a car accident that resulted in one death. At approximately 9:30 a.m., the southbound Cross Island Parkway was heavily congested due to an overturned vehicle near Hempstead Turnpike. Around 10 a.m., a car fire was reported on the northbound Cross Island Parkway after Utopia Parkway.
At about 2:30 p.m., an overturned vehicle on the eastbound Southern State Parkway near Exit 107 caused widespread delays, as seen in the accompanying picture. In Astoria, a victim is in critical condition after experiencing a medical episode and crashing into parked cars at 36th Avenue and 37th Street. EMS later reported that the victim died at a local hospital. All incidents are currently under investigation.
