A spokesman for Greater Anglia, the train operating company, provided an update at the time of the incident, saying: “Due to a person hit by a train between Stratford and Shenfield, some lines are closed.
Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until further notice.” Further details were provided by a spokesman for the British Transport Police, who said: “British Transport Police received a report at 5 pm yesterday (30 May) of a casualty on the tracks near Stratford station. Paramedics also attended; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not thought to be suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
