Hoosier Crane Service Company employee and former Jimmie football player Deacon Dillenbeck of Elkhart, Indiana has sadly passed away. He died after a work accident on Saturday, June 1st 2024. He was confirmed dead through a post shared on Facebook by Jimtown Football that reads “Rest in Peace to former Jimmie, Deacon Dillenbeck. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with his family and friends.”
How did the accident happen?
Tragedy struck a road construction site on Friday when a worker was fatally injured in an accident involving a vehicle. According to a press release, Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of US Highway 231 South and County Road 800 South at approximately 12:04 p.m. after receiving a report that a person had been struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies found a severely injured individual who had been hit by a vehicle at the construction site.
The injured person was promptly transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital, but despite the efforts of the emergency medical team, the worker succumbed to their injuries while being treated in the hospital’s emergency department, as confirmed by the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO). The preliminary investigation by the deputies revealed that the incident occurred when the driver of a 2005 Mack dump truck accidentally backed into the worker.
At this time, authorities are continuing to investigate the precise circumstances and factors that led to the fatal accident. As of the publication of this article, no further information regarding the incident has been released.
