Los Angeles-based Actress and Writer Emily Somers has sadly passed away. She died at the age of 38 after battling cancer on Thursday 16th May 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones. The news of her passing was known through a post that reads “The world has lost a little of its light. My beautiful, talented, loving friend, Emily Somers, died this past Thursday. Emily and I were friends for close to 30 years after meeting in Mrs. Robertson’s 3rd grade class.”
Emily Somers Education
Emily Somers was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. Her artistic journey began as a ballerina, but she soon transitioned to theatre and singing, performing in various local productions. Emily honed her craft at the American Conservatory Theater’s Summer Training Congress in San Francisco and the British American Drama Academy’s Midsummer in Oxford program at Oxford University. She graduated with honors in Dramatic Art and highest honors in American Studies from the University of California, Davis.
After graduation, Emily moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television. She played Lindsay, a recurring guest star, in the latest season of WESTWORLD and will have a recurring role in a new AppleTV+/Hello Sunshine show premiering this year. She starred alongside Jean Smart in the horror/thriller feature AWAKEN THE SHADOWMAN, worked with Gerard Butler in PLAYING FOR KEEPS directed by Gabriele Muccino, appeared in Netflix’s SANDY WEXLER, and led the indie thriller REBOOT.

Emily was nominated for Best Actress in a Short Film at the Madrid International Film Festival for her role in SOULMATE. Additionally, she appeared in a multi-spot national Subaru campaign, a national commercial for HBO GO, and several national VO spots for Pacific Life and OurTime.com. Emily has experience as a story analyst for companies such as Paradigm and Alcon Entertainment, and she worked as an assistant to Jonathan Mostow, writer/director of Breakdown and U-571. Her first short film, BINGO!, was a finalist in the Dances With Films 2-Minute 2-Step competition. She has also adapted the female-driven novel Into the Valley by Ruth Galm into a screenplay and filmed a short/proof of concept based on it, which is currently being submitted to festivals.
Emily is managed by Tina Osterman at Rothman/Andrés Entertainment, represented by Stone Talent Agency, regionally by Cast Images (NorCal), and for print modeling by It Model Management. Emily is survived by her beloved husband of 4 1/2 years Geordie Robinson, her loving and beloved parents Diana (Christman) and Alvin Somers of Rancho, Murieta, CA, and parents-in-law Wendy McCue and Terrence Robinson, grandmother Bobbie Noonan and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Tess Robinson and Byron Smith, all of Australia.
